I don't want to get an STI
There are a bunch of things you can do to protect yourself from STIs, or to reduce your risk. You could:
- Use a latex or polyurethane (thin plastic) condom when you have sex
- For oral sex, use a dental dam, plastic wrap, or condom to protect yourself
- Have sex with fewer people
- Talk with the people you’re having sex with about getting tested
- If you are unsure about whether you or your partner may have an STI, you can wait to have sex until you can get tested.
- Choose lower risk activities (such as fingering and/or hand jobs)
- Choose not to have sex
